Grace
A. Telesco, Ph.D., B.C.E.T.S., is an Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice in South Florida & Director of Operations of WolfBear Institute.
Dr. Telesco is a retired Lieutenant who served for twenty
years with the NYPD and was the Chairperson of the Behavioral
Science Department at the NYC Police Academy.
Dr. Telesco has developed various educational programs
at the university level utilizing sociodrama techniques
and has presented on numerous topics related to social
policy, crisis intervention, and disaster preparedness
& is an expert in traumatic stress response.
Following the September 11th attacks on the
WTC, Dr. Telesco was appointed the Interagency Coordinator
of Mental Health Services at the Family Assistance Center where
families of the victims received crisis intervention and
support.
Most recently, Dr. Telesco
was deployed to New Orleans, LA by SAMHSA (Substance
Abuse Mental Health Services Administration) US Department
of Health & Human Services to be part of the elite
DTAC (Disaster Technical Assistance and Consultations)
Team.
Dr. Telesco is an accomplished researcher in the areas
of domestic violence and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
in Police Officers and is the author of numerous publications.
